Community Events
Wondering how to get your organization's information to our students/parents?
The Community Events newsletter is where events and opportunities in the community will be listed instead of physical flyers or posters being distributed in schools. Please do not bring paper flyers or posters to schools – they will be recycled. You may submit events, activities, lessons, or opportunities to Tess Riecke.
Events must be directly related to PreK-12 students and families. Some parent-only events such as parenting classes may be included on a case-by-case basis. We do not accept or post information about research or research studies, even if the subject involves students and families. We do not accept or post information for any overnight camps - day camps are acceptable. Please note that USD 383 has the final determination on whether submitted events or opportunities will be included in the newsletter. These procedures may be updated at any time.
To keep the newsletter concise and easy to read, information will be posted in the newsletter for two consecutive weeks, if applicable, then removed. If you have questions about this procedure, please ask Tess Riecke.
The newsletter will be posted to ParentSquare once per week on Wednesdays. The newsletter will not be posted more than once per week. Any information must be sent by Tuesday at 10 a.m. if you want to have your information posted that same week. Information sent after Tuesday at 10 a.m. will be held until the next posting.
Beginning in August 2026, attachments such as PDFs or image flyers will NOT be included with your post. They are not accessible to those with disabilities nor are they translated into the various languages spoken by families in our district. You must send all the information as text in an email or your event will not be posted. All information must be sent with the following:
- Title
- Short description that includes the date, time, location, event details, and registration details (if applicable).
- Please avoid including emojis in your submission as they can have accessibility issues. They will be removed if your submission has them.
- Any relevant links
- Contact information of the organizer or leader
The first newsletter for the 2026-2027 school year will be sent on August 26 and the final email will be the week of May 12. The newsletter will not be updated or posted during the summer months. The newsletter will not be updated or posted during extended breaks such as Fall, Winter, and Spring Breaks – see our Academic Calendar for specific dates.
Community members without a USD 383 ParentSquare account can sign up to receive notifications about local events.
