USD 383 Autism Program

Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are served by a team approach where the services of special education teachers, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, adaptive physical education teachers, paraprofessionals and the autism coordinator are all available to come together to assist the regular educational staff meet the learning needs of our students.

Parents are considered a crucial part of the team both for planning the services to be provided and 635441184142430000in continuing the implementation of some strategies in the home.

Interventions are provided in the following areas of development which commonly pose difficulties for our students with ASD: communication, social skills, academics, and behavior. Additionally, we also address sensory issues and life skills from early childhood through the high school years. Above all, we see each student as a unique individual and interventions are therefore individualized to meet specific needs.

Many training sessions and workshops are offered throughout the year and are available to parents, educators, and paraprofessionals.  Please contact Wendy Condra, Assistant to the Autism Spectrum Coordinator, for more information.
