Early Learning Reopening Plan

July 17, 2020

Dear USD 383 Early Learning Family:

With a variety of programs available for young children in our community, we are excited you have chosen to enroll your child in the USD 383 Early Learning Program. With all of the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, we know this is a challenging time for families as they work to balance the educational needs of their children, alongside considerations for their safety.

Our program wants to assure you that we are committed to providing your child with the best educational opportunities possible, while implementing safety precautions, should you choose to send your child to on-site early learning services this school year. We understand that families will have varying degrees of comfort regarding on-site services, so we will have a remote option available in a limited capacity. Children will be prioritized for admittance to remote learning based on level of need and placement is not guaranteed.

Because we cannot guarantee a remote learning option OR that our program will be able to provide on-site services without interruption, it is important that you carefully read through all of the information provided in order to make the decision that is best for your family. There are many uncertainties of how the year will unfold, so we will have contingency plans for what learning will look like for children enrolled in our program should we need to reduce the number of students on-site OR if on-site services become unavailable. We would urge families who choose to continue with their enrollment to have alternative childcare plans arranged should we be unable to provide on-site services at any point in time.

In order to prepare for the upcoming school year, we need all families to complete a brief survey using the link that was provided to you. The survey will ask you to choose a preference between on-site or remote learning, as well as provide you with the option to discontinue your child’s enrollment in our program should you choose to do so.

Despite the challenges we are facing, we know great things CAN and WILL happen for our littlest learners this school year! If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 785-587-2830. Thank you for your understanding during these difficult times.
