From the Director's Desk:

"In 1966, two volunteers in the Manhattan, Kansas Community started an ESL class to address the growing number of community members who could not effectively partner with their children's schools to impact their children's academic growth. Thus began adult education in the Manhattan community. We have been honored to serve this community and serve adult students through literacy programs, diploma completion, GED preparation and ESL services for the past 50 years.

From the first moment you enter our office, personal attention is available to help you complete enrollment forms, counseling to assist you in identifying your goals and creating an individual pathway or plan to achieve those goals, walking you through the pre and post testing experience, and setting expectations which are conducive to a successful learning environment according to best practices in research.  Our highly qualified instructional staff is able to identify your academic strengths and weaknesses and pin point instruction that will strengthen all academic areas in which you need assistance.  We even offer hybrid and online instruction for qualified students to help make the educational process more convenient to your need, as well as private tutoring services.   In addition, we partner with various agencies and post-secondary institutions such as MATC to make your transition to higher education easier, as well as work with the work force center to offer work keys instruction and testing to help you enter the workforce or retain your present employment and improve your skills.  Whatever you set as a goal, our mission is to provide the academic support you need to achieve that goal.

In addition, the adult learning center is a regional testing center for the GED, Compass, CDA certification and TOEFL in the fall.  We also can administer various professional certifications through Pearson Vue if requested in advance.  Our testing center operates daily and also provides  proctoring services, limited independent computer instruction, as well as provide internet access for continued, independent study.

We have been providing services to help adults succeed in the little apple since 1966 and we encourage you to take the next step and call or come in and enroll!"

As we grow our learning culture,
