Ashley Smith Named Theodore Roosevelt Principal
Ashley Smith has been named the principal of Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School. She currently serves as the assistant principal at Riley County Grade School in Riley, Kansas. She has served in that position since 2018. Prior to that, she was a teacher at Bluemont Elementary School and was the Director of the Flint Hills Summer Fun Camp. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Kansas State University in 2010 and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Kansas State University in 2017.
“I am excited for this opportunity to return to USD 383 and accept the principal position at Theodore Roosevelt,” states Smith. “Andrea Tiede and the TR staff have worked hard to create a student-centered, welcoming environment. I look forward to working with them so that we can continue building on TR’s successes. Theodore Roosevelt has a wonderful community of students, families, and staff, and I feel fortunate to be a part of the Teddy Bear team!”
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Ashley Smith as the next Principal of Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School,” states Superintendent Dr. Marvin Wade. “Mrs. Smith has demonstrated leadership as both an elementary administrator and teacher, and has a strong understanding of the programs and services within USD 383. I am impressed with how Mrs. Smith promotes success within both a school setting and the broader community. I look forward to working with her as a leader within Manhattan-Ogden USD 383.”
Smith replaces Andrea Tiede. Tiede will begin as the USD 383 Executive Director of Special Services this summer. Smith will begin her new position on July 22, 2019.
